Frequently Asked Questions

If you have a question or concern, do not hesitate to contact the office.

Some questions that parents/guardians frequently ask the main office and administration appear below with their answers.

When does the school day begin? What are the bell times?

Yard Supervision begins at 9:20 AM.  Please do not send your children to school before this time as there will be no staff supervision on the yard. The school day begins with the first bell at 9:30 AM indicating it is time to come inside the school. The bell rings at the beginning and end of each recess and lunch.

The full day's schedule can be seen on our bell times page.

When do buses arrive and leave the school each day?

The buses arrive at our school between 9:20 AM and 9:30 AM and leave between 3:50 PM and 4:00 PM each day. You can visit transportation and school bus status for more information on busing.

Where can I park?

Parking at the school can be limited, especially during bus times. If you are coming into the school during school hours, you can park on either side of Cameron Street but be sure not to block any of our neighbour's driveways.  There should be no vehicles parked in the bus loading zone during bus loading and unloading times.

Where can I drop off my child?

All doors to the building are locked during school hours. Students should be dropped off to our playground between 9:20 AM and 9:30 AM.  Please note that there is no staff supervision on the school yard before 9:20 AM.  Children who arrive late (after 9:30 AM), should enter through the main doors by the office.  You will have to ring the doorbell to gain entry.  Any student arriving after 9:30 AM needs to sign in at the office.

How do I know if buses are delayed or cancelled due to weather?

Listen to your local radio station and visit the RCJTC website in the morning for bus delays or cancellations. Remember that if a bus is cancelled in the morning, it will not run in the afternoon. Visit the school bus status page for more information on busing.

What is the best way to get in touch with a teacher?

The student agenda is a great communication tool for parents/guardians to write notes or requests to classroom teachers such as changes in schedules, homework challenges and other important information. Parents can also call the school office. A message is taken if the phone call is made during class time.

What do I do if my child is sick and cannot come to school?

If your child is sick, please do not send him/her to school. Children who are too sick to go outside for recess or participate in physical education should be kept at home until they are able to participate fully in the school day. Please call the school office before 9:30 AM to inform us that your child will be absent. The school's answering machine is on 24/7 so you can leave a message at your convenience. You can visit our If Your Child is Sick page for more information.
